The 16th Annual Employee Arts & Crafts Show officially kicks off today, March 15, with an opening reception from 4 to 5:30 p.m. in Viking Union Room 565. The show will be open to the public beginning at 11 a.m. today.

Western Washington University President Bruce Shepard will make a few comments, and refreshments will be provided.

The Critical Junctures Institute, a collaborative venture between Western Washington University and PeaceHealth/St. Joseph Hospital, is putting on a research seminar from 9 to 11 a.m. Monday, March 22, featuring Laura Mae Baldwin from the University of Washington Department of Family Medicine.

Center Dwayne Fells scored on a post-up with 0.6 seconds left in overtime, lifting Cal Poly Pomona to a 76-75 victory over Western Washington University in a NCAA Division II Men's Basketball West Regional semifinal game Saturday on Haggen Court at Sam Carver Gymnasium.

The folks in Academic Advising at Western Washington University are inviting faculty members to apply and serve as faculty advisers during the new student orientation programs (Transitions, Summerstart and Fall Orientation) for 2010-2011.

Center Jessica Summers (Sr., Blaine) had game-highs of 27 points and nine rebounds, but it wasn't enough as Western Washington University fell to Chico State, 79-68, in a NCAA Division II Women's Basketball West Regional first-round game Friday at Royal Brougham Pavilion on the campus of host Seattle Pacific University.

Telecommunications at Western Washington University will be upgrading the campus' CallPilot voicemail system, beginning in the evening on Saturday, March 27. The voicemail will be down from 7 p.m. March 27 through  5 a.m. March 28. During this time, users will not be able to access voicemail or leave messages.

The down time will be shortened if fewer messages are in users' voicemail inboxes at the time of the upgrade. Telecommunications officials request that users delete as many messages as possible before March 27.

The No. 3 Western Washington University Vikings open with No. 6 Chico State on Friday, Feb. 12, at 12:30 p.m. at Seattle Pacific University's Royal Brougham Pavilion in Seattle.

A party to honor Marilyn Johnson for her 28 years of service to Western Washington University will be held from 2:30 to 4:30 p.m. Friday, March 26, in the Old Main Solarium.

Johnson, the payroll and benefits manager with WWU's Human Resources, is retiring.

The Office of Admissions at Western Washington University is holding a reception for admitted Whatcom County freshmen and their families to celebrate their acceptance and to connect them with each other and current WWU students, faculty, staff and alums.

The event is scheduled for 7 to 8:30 p.m. Thursday, March 25, and will take place in the skybridge lobby of the Academic Instructional Center West building on campus.
