Don’t be shocked when I tell you that my most surprising discovery in this northwestern Washington city — the one that truly sparked my interest — was the American Museum of Radio and Electricity. A university town of similar size (81,000) to Bend, fewer than 20 miles south of the Canadian border, Bellingham is better known as a minor port town and as the gateway to the North Cascades than it is for its cultural offerings.
