Nominations for Western's Community Engagement Award due June 30

Nominations are being accepted for the annual Western Washington University Community Engagement Award. This award, presented annually at Western’s opening convocation ceremony, is given in recognition to a faculty or staff member or group of Western employees involved in outstanding community service, including outreach and engagement activities that benefit the well-being of the community or an individual(s) in the community.

Outstanding nominees would include those who function as a liaison between the university and the Northwest Washington community; participate in volunteer work, service organizations, advisory boards or foundations; organize forums or community programs; and/or chair community groups.

All nominations must be submitted via the on-line nomination form by June 30. Nominations may be made by any university faculty or staff member. Nominees must be one of the following to be eligible:

  • Faculty, professional or classified staff
  • Minimum one year of WWU employment (this criteria is not applicable to a group nomination)
  • Activity(ies) must have been performed during the current academic year
  • Community service is not a primary function of their position
