Whatcom Creek restoration to happen during Back2Bellingham

Western Washington University students, faculty, staff, alumni and family members will be helping to restore Whatcom Creek from 10 a.m. to noon on Sunday, May 19, during Back2Bellingham weekend.

Learn about salmon habitat and the Bellingham Parks and Recreation’s efforts to restore this area of Whatcom County since the 1999 Pipeline Explosion. Park staff will present information and then Western families, students and alumni will get their hands dirty mulching and removing invasive plants as a vital part of restoring salmon habitat in this area. Tools and gloves will be provided.
